Emphasising that stability at the English club would be their initial watchword, Yeung also spoke of his vision of Birmingham helping to cure China's football ills.

"Over the 10 years China has had its sports boosted, but there has been no development for football," Yeung said.

"So I would like to make my humble contribution... In the future when the team is stabilised, we will recruit Chinese players who have potential.

"My biggest wish is to bring in the English Premier League club to China, promote English professionalism and football concepts to the Chinese, and to let the Chinese know how an English football team is managed."

Grandtop's chief operations officer Sammy Yu reiterated that they were keen to work with manager Alex McLeish after the takeover, and said management on the business side of the club would be strengthened and not necessarily replaced wholesale.

Arsenal v Wigan Athletic Premier League Live

Kick off: 15:00 Day 6 Emirates Stadium

Arsenal v Wigan Athletic
The Togo striker, who angered Arsenal fans before and after his £25 million move from the North London club this summer, ran the full length of the Eastlands pitch to celebrate in front of the Gunners supporters, leading to violent scenes in the stands.

Adebayor did not contest a charge of violent conduct when he was seen to rake his studs down the face of former team-mate Van Persie earlier in the match, meaning he will miss the Manchester derby on Sunday.
The only recent precedent is when Manchester United defender Gary Neville was fined £5,000 and warned about his future conduct for an incident in 2006 when he celebrated a win over Liverpool in front of opposing fans.

Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson is in similar hot water with the FA for waving a flag at Derby supporters on August 29, but he has admitted the charge and apologised for his actions.

US Open - Serena facing tirade

A source revealed that representatives from tennis's governing body the International Tennis Federation plus members of the Grand Slam Committee, which oversees the four major tournaments will convene along with US Open referee Brian Earley.

The group is expected to review video footage of the incident, seek clarification from the line judge and most likely hand down a heavy fine to Williams.

A representative from the WTA Tour is also expected to be included, although the Tour does not have jurisdiction over Grand Slam events.

Williams lost her cool after being called for a foot fault on a second serve while trailing 15-30 and 5-6 in the second set. Clijsters won the first set 6-4.
